I just watched Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. It was an enjoyable movie and ended the Skywalker saga well. However, I found the pace of the movie too fast. While the movie did tell the story, I thought parts of the story could be expanded while a lot of the action scenes could be condensed. We know that JJ Abrams can use the technology available to him but just because he can doesn’t mean he should. The movie in my opinion could have focussed more on the story telling rather than the special effects. The various coincidences of seeing Han Solo as well as Princess Leia (despite Carrie Fisher being dead) and Lando Calrissian were nice and helped end things. Seeing Chewie receive his medal also brought a tear to my eye. It was also nice getting a little of Yoda’s voice in one scene. Ewoks and Porgs completed a sentimental picture and now Star Wars can Rest In Peace.

I’m still going strong with Stargate SG1. I’m now well into season 8.

I love how there are so many of my favourite science fiction actors who make guest appearances in Stargate SG1.

Many of the actors for Stargate SG1 are Canadian but the two I want to mention here are not Canadians. One is Australian.

I’ve loved seeing Jolene Blalock who I loved in Star Trek Enterprise, Starship Troopers, and JAG. I also enjoyed her character in House. It’s a shame she only performed twice in Stargate SG1 as Ishta.

Claudia Black is Australian and is best known to me from Farscape. A science fiction TV series filmed in Australia and mosting starring australian actors.

In Stargate SG1 she has a recurring role as Vala Mal Doran.

What a fabulous episode. It stars Jolene Blalock who played T’Pol in Star Trek Enterprise. She was one of my favourite characters in that series.

She plays Ishta who was a high priestess of Goa’uld system lord. She’s the leader of a rebel resistance group who live to protect the rights of female Jaffa after her system lord Moloc deemed all female babies to be killed after their birth.

Ishta and Teal’c hit it off and get to know one another intimately.

At the beginning of the episode O’Neill, Carter, jackson, and Teal’c are captured and O’Neill wonders if they are being captured so they can act as semen donors for all the woman.

In a rarity for TV of that time the word ‘penises’ is used.

Ordinarily this sort of episode would bore me to tears. The redeeming features are Vic Fontaine played by James Darren who is one of my favourite actors. He appears in TJ Hooker, Hawaii Five-0, Baa Baa Black Sheep, and best of all The Time Tunnel.

On a sadder note, this episode featured Odo very heavily and he was played by Rene Auberjonois who died this week on 8 December at the age of 79.

So this episode is about Odo finally figuring out he needs to do something to make clear his feelings for Kira.

Vic helps him out.

Odo and Kira work things out.

Check out the Memory Alpha entry.

It must have been a tight week. Low budget type episode with lots of flashbacks.

Basically, the USA feels the needs along with the Russians to inform China and the UK of impending doom and explain the Stargate program.

The Chinese are angry and sceptical.

Senator Kinsey of course wants to rip control away from General Hammond and Colonel O’Neill.

Not much seen of Carter which is a shame.

Thor comes along to save the day for Hammond and O’Neill.

I enjoyed it but not much new action.

Nirrti is up to no good.

Alebran was brought back to SGC to warn Jack and the rest of SG1. Sadly, Alebran doesn’t get too far beyond the warning.

LTC Evanov sounds like his Russian is spoken with some French accent to it.

I love that bullets are better than staff weapons (mostly).

Wodan looks like a Vidiian.

O’Neill: It might have been another Alebran. It’s a popular name.

I love O’Neill’s sense of humour.

The inhabitants of P3X-367 have some special powers being able to use telekinesis and mind reading.

Check out the actor who plays Nirrti https://jacquelinesamuda.blogspot.com/p/about.html

Nirrti has eyes for Carter (who doesn’t?). Suggesting Sam would make a good host.

Carter has been altered by Nirrti’s machine.

LTC Evanov becomes a bag of mostly water which bursts…

Nirrti has stunning evening wear.

Pity she ends up with some neck pain in the end.

Carter is restored. Great news.
